Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Overview: Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows candidates to gain recognition for competencies acquired through previous experience. To be considered, candidates must submit evidence to the RPL evaluator, who will assess and sign off on the recognized competencies.

Required Documentation:

  • Experience Evidence: Submit letters from your employer(s) detailing your employment dates, positions held, and relevant experience aligned with SAIGA's key competency areas.
  • RPL Evaluation Template: Refer to this template for detailed evidence requirements.
  • Competency Framework: The RPL evaluation is based on the RGA Competency Framework, available on the SAIGA website.
  • Trainee Experience: If you obtained experience as a trainee with another professional body, submit previous assessment reports.
  • Qualifications: Attach certified copies of qualifications and certificates from professional bodies.
  • NQF Level 8 Qualification: You must have at least an NQF Level 8 qualification in Auditing or Accounting or have passed the GASP exam.
  • Work Experience: Submit evidence of completing signed articles with public sector exposure, or have a minimum of five years' experience in external auditing or public finance management.
  • Logbook: If applicable, submit certified copies of your signed logbook.
  • CV: Provide a detailed CV with contactable references.
  • ID: Submit a certified copy of your ID.
  • Payment Proof: Include proof of payment.
  • SAIGA Membership: You must be a SAIGA member or in the process of applying.
  • Consent and Indemnity Form: Complete the form for criminal checks and qualification verifications.

RPL Evaluation Process: The final assessment of your RPL evidence will be conducted by the Education Committee. SAIGA reserves the right to overturn the evaluator's recommendation. A non-refundable fee of R3,400.00 is required, covering background and qualification checks as well as RPL evaluator fees.

  • Cut-off Date: The cut-off date for RPL candidates to be considered for the upcoming Registered Government Auditor Qualifying Examinations (02-16 November 2024) is 15 September 2024. Candidates evaluated after this date will be enrolled in the first quarter of 2025.
